Yuri Kazakov (1927-1982) was a well-known Russian prose writer and screenwriter. Critics called Yuri Kazakov a master of the short genre, a worthy successor to Bunin and Chekhov. His short stories, though small in volume, reveal deep and touching stories. Nothing foretells trouble on an early quiet morning when two boys - village boy Yashka and city boy Volodya - are getting ready for a fishing trip. This is how Yuri Kazakov's story "Quiet Morning" begins. Yashka knows everything about fishing, but his friend from Moscow, Volodya, is a complete novice in fishing: inexperienced Volodya just fusses around and gets in the way. The boys have no idea how their trip to the pond will end. The collection also includes stories like "Silly Chick," "Arcturus - the hunting dog," "Teddy," and others. Suitable for middle school age.
