The monograph analyzes one of the current issues in music pedagogy, which has been present since the invention of the keyboard - teaching music sight-reading. The study is based on the idea of activating the holistic process of perceiving and voicing a musical score being read from sheet music. The essence of the concepts "interference of skills," "generalized skills," "dexterity of movements," "psychological attitude" is identified, and the psycho-physiological structure of the ability to sight-read and the relationship of basic skills at the technological stage of training are considered. Methodological recommendations for teaching sight-reading to pianists with performance experience are systematized. The publication is aimed at teachers and students of musical and pedagogical institutions. The main scientific conclusions and methodological recommendations can be adapted for teaching sight-reading on other musical instruments. 2nd edition, revised and expanded.
