This national guide to psychotherapy is being published for the first time in Russia and includes materials reflecting the scientific and practical achievements of modern domestic and foreign psychotherapy. The history of the development of psychotherapeutic knowledge is traced from the emergence of scientific views to current controversial issues. The main concepts and basic theoretical ideas about the mechanisms of psychotherapeutic effects are reflected. Directions and forms of psychotherapy are described, methods and techniques are widely presented, and the results of evidence-based research are demonstrated. The application of psychotherapeutic approaches in various diseases is considered, targets of psychotherapeutic interventions are identified, and algorithms of psychotherapeutic strategies are proposed.
