Viktor Frankl is an outstanding modern psychologist, the founder of the Vienna School of Psychotherapy, which is the third school after Freud's psychoanalysis and Adler's individual psychology. The viability of this school was confirmed by the author's personal experience, as he managed to survive all the horrors of concentration camps while preserving his own identity. Frankl's terrifying and tragic experience inspired the development of a therapeutic system that has made the lives of millions of people around the world brighter, more meaningful, and valuable. One of the most important conclusions he drew from his experience in the living laboratory of concentration camps was that an orientation towards meaning saves lives. Meaning became the cornerstone of the concept he developed and his understanding of human beings.
"I am convinced that man should not and cannot develop his personality directly by striving for it; his personality will be perfected as he entrusts himself to something higher than himself, to a cause greater than himself," writes Frankl.
This book contains essays that, according to the author, provide the clearest and most precise presentation of the principles of the logotherapy system he developed and its therapeutic application.
