The author of the book is a man of unusual fate. As a child, she fell ill with meningitis and completely lost her eyesight, and then hearing. At about the age of ten, she got to a clinic school for deaf-blackened children, where, under the leadership of Professor I. A. Sokolyansky, her speech was restored. Here she received secondary education. Later she defended the dissertation at the Research Institute of Defectology. This woman wrote several books and many scientific articles, but it was this book that became the main work of her life, since in her she tried to tell about how the world seems to her, what kind of world it is, without colors and sounds
