"This man Moses" is the last and most critical work of Sigmund Freud. Transferring the method of psychoanalysis to the history of the whole people, Freud foresaw what indignation - from various sides - would fall upon him after publication, and answered in advance to critics: “All my life I defended what I considered scientific truth, even when it was unpleasant and unsafe For my followers. " Moses, according to Freud, is not a Jew, but an Egyptian, most likely, a priest living during the time of Pharaoh Akhenaten, who was the first to introduce a monotheistic cult. After the death of Akhnaten, Moses, who has remained faithful to his ideas, spreads his religion among Semite slaves and leads them away from Egypt. The chain of reasoning leads Freud to the conclusion about the death of Moses from the hands of the people saved by him, but the sowed grains did not disappear in vain and years later sprouted in the form of religion, which the Jews still profess.
