This book is a fundamental description of the phenomenology and therapy of depression from the standpoint of the gestalt approach. The specifics of both melancholic and reactive depression, as well as manic states, are revealed, features of depressive experience in various personal styles (narcissistic, borderline, hysteroid, dependent, obsessive-compulsive), and numerous clinical illustrations are given. A separate chapter describes the care of the therapist while working with depressive patients and a certain dynamics of therapeutic relations characteristic of this work. A significant part of the book is devoted to the features of depressive disorders in certain phases of life (motherhood, childhood, youth, old age), which require specific forms of therapeutic support. The language of the authors reflects their depth and inspiration, which is completely invaluable when working with this category of patients
