The book is devoted to one of the socially significant problems of modern society - adolescence. The author’s focus has swept through Russia at the beginning of the XX century. Epidemic of suicides of schoolchildren. Analysis of the causes and conditions that then pushed teenagers to voluntary care, as well as the history of the struggle of Russian society with adolescence are the main objects of the researcher who built his work on numerous unique, including archival, sources. At the same time, the problem of children"s suicides is inscribed in the context of the changes that took place during the modernization in the Russian family, in the relations of generations and in society as a whole. Particular attention in the book is given to the mechanisms of broadcasting cultural values, it is shown how the mechanisms of mutual alarming between generations are formed and functioning, how various practices of everyday life make representatives of different age groups and create barriers between them.
