The literary activity of Vladimir Nabokov lasted more than half a century in three languages and two continents. In the book of the researcher and translator Nabokov, Andrei Babikov, on the basis of the vast archival material, considers all the main components of the diverse literary baggage of the writer in their inextricable connection: poetry, theater and cinema, Russian and English prose, memoirs, auto -item, lectures, critical articles and reviews, epistolaries.
Considerable attention in “Reading Nabokov” is paid to such little -studied sides of the Nabokov creative biography as his emigrant and American environment, participation in literary associations, preparation of manuscripts for printing and issues of textology, late stylistic innovations, initial editions and subsequent transformations of the “cameras” Obskura, Dara and Lolita . Based on the holistic view of the phenomenon of the bilingual writer, not simplifying and not dividing his art into “Russian” and “American” periods, the author of the book finds many convincing evidence that the science of Nabokov is waiting for many discoveries and new readings.
