This book is dedicated to the life and scientific activity of an outstanding American psychologist, representative of the School of Gestaltpsichology, Rudolf Arnheim. He made a significant contribution to the study of perception, revealing his creative, cognitive role. Arnheim was the first to apply the laws of Gestalt to the study of art in its various forms - cinema, architecture, painting, design. Expelled by the Nazis from Germany, Arnheim waged in his works the struggle with fascist ideology.
