The book of the American psychologist Abraham Maslow, one of the iconic figures in the psychology of the twentieth century, presented an alternative to the two main directions in psychology at the time of its first edition - behaviorism and Freudian psychoanalysis. Maslow, who began his research path as a pupil of the behaviorist approach, perceives the influence of the so -called "third force". This alternative movement included the followers of nefordism, ethnopsychology and gestalt psychology, etc. Besides from the ideas developed by the associates of the “third force”, Maslow makes a new prospect of research on human nature, which later became widely recognized and became known as a humanistic approach in psychology.
