Why is it rational to be irrational? The book reveals the strategic role of emotions in human behavior. The author makes an attempt to explain how emotions encourage people to act against their visible material interests and why such behavior can be profitable. The main hypothesis of the work is formulated in terms of economic theory, real dilemmas of the ethical order - the willingness to rush to the aid of an outsider, love conflicts, a thirst for revenge, etc. - are considered regarding the speculative versions of the prisoner dilemma and the problem of the “free -year -old”.
