The last book of the famous American Jungian analyst Nathan Schwartz Salant (1938 -2020) is devoted to the concept of mental energy, which the author has developed from the beginning of his career analyst. For the first time, he presented her as a graduation work at the Yunga Institute in Zurich, carried out under the leadership of Maria-Louise von Franz in 1966. Even then, von Franz appreciated her as the most outstanding contribution to analytical psychology after Jung. In the book "Paradox of Order-Best Create", Schwartz Salant offers a harmonious scientific theory of mental energy and its application in clinical and socio-cultural practice. For the Russian publication, the author wrote a preface about the life and work of his wife Lydia Salant, who made a significant contribution to the development of the proposed concept. In the appendix to the Russian publication, memories of Nathan Schwarz-Saalant of foreign and domestic colleagues are placed.
