The collection "Meeting with the gods" is a collection of essays of various authors dedicated to the gods as symbolic figures of the soul, special modes of imagination, between which the soul wanders, realizing itself in various forms and manifestations. The collection was compiled by James Hillman and was thought of as a main vector of archetypal psychology.
Two programmatic work of James Hillman: "Return of the World Soul" and "about paranoia" are added to the book. The first is devoted to the fundamental rethinking of psychology from "purely cabinet" to "analysis of houses and trees", a return to the renaissance worldview of the animation of the world. The second essay is a bold attempt to rethink the very first psychiatric sources dedicated to paranoia from the perspective of modern psychology and modern philosophy. Paranoia here is considered not only as a specific psychiatric pathology, but also as a pathological dominant of the culture of dominion with its literalism and rigorism
