Maria-Louise von Franz, perhaps the most famous of the students of Karl Gustav Jung. A devoted follower of Jungian psychology, von Franz, relying on the ideas of her teacher, managed to form her individual and recognizable handwriting, gaining wide fame as the main pioneer in the method of psychological interpretation of folklore and mythological plots. The fundamental idea of Jungianism, which consists in distinguishing between a collective and individual unconscious, as well as establishing a parallel between them, becomes a help for the research method von Franz, turning to folklore material as a product of a collective unconscious and conducting an analogy between allegorical images and plots, on the one hand, and on the one problems familiar to us from the actual experience - on the other. Perhaps one of the key problems in the focus of its scientific interests was associated with the process of personal formation (the so -called "initiation process"), as well as the role of love in this process. It is this issue that becomes central in the lecture course dedicated to the work of the late -ant writer Apuley from the Madavra "Golden Donkey", which was read by M.-L. von Franz at the Zurich Institute. K.G. Yung in 1966 and on the material of which the text of this book is based.
