People tend to create theories about the world - alas, we are usually mistaken, and our theories move us from understanding the truth.
Why are we cold? What causes a change of seasons? If you shoot from a pistol and at the same time drop a bullet from a palm to the floor, which of the two bullets will fall earlier?
The author of this book claims: we not only give incorrect answers to such questions, but in general we perceive the world - its fundamental properties are wrong. Faced with phenomena, a modern person focuses on the so -called intuitive theories - a set of personal views, beliefs and ideas about a particular sphere. The problem is that intuitive theories operate with concepts and processes that are not in nature. They interfere with the acceptance and observations that do not fit into them. They lead to blindness - ignoring the facts and discoveries, resolutely refuting them. It is they who are the cause of the paradoxical denial of science in the world where science dominates. This book exposes intuitive theories that we usually form as children, and shows when and how they can confuse us. There are many examples and interesting experiments explaining why a person perceives the world one way or another.
The first half of the book is devoted to physics (theory of substance, energy, gravity, movement, space and earth), and the second - the world of biology (theories of life, growth, heredity, diseases, adaptation and origin).
