The book presents a wide historical panorama of understanding and research of a sense of movement. This complex and complex feeling is called "Dark" (I.M. Sechenov) or "sixth" and associated with intuition. It plays a central role in the work of the senses and in the regulation of poses and movements. Psychologists and physiologists call it "kinesthesia", "propriocument" and less often a "gapt ”. The author introduces readers to the history of these concepts, with those philosophical discussions and scientific experiments, which in the 19th-XX centuries led to the creation of a psychophysiology of a sense of movement. In the final chapters, cultural, psychological and phenomenological studies of walking, climbing and dance, as well as about modern views on the connection of movement with cognition, health and creativity, are narrated
