The monograph presents an analytical review of foreign and domestic approaches to the study and conceptualization of the psychology of relatives who take care of patients with chronic diseases. The basic methodological principles are formulated that determine the author’s positions of research regarding relatives of patients with chemical dependencies.
The second section of the monograph is devoted to the description of the original psychodiagnostic methodology "The level of emotional burnout of relatives" (UVR) The main psychometric characteristics of the developed tool are given, the results of a study of the reliability and validity of the methodology, its factor structure, as well as standardization data are presented.
The third section provides the results of psychological research of parents and spouses of patients with alcohol and opioid dependence. The features of their personal and family functioning are described, the specifics of burnout, depending on the role position of the relative and the nosological form of the patient’s addiction, non -specific and specific predictors of the burnout of relatives who take care of patients with chemical addiction.
