The monograph presents a cultural and anthropological analysis of the figure of the commander, whose official practice involves personal responsibility. The calling of the commander involves the whole potential of a person - with his unique way of thinking, with the ability to make a decision in the ultimate situation, with the awareness of the need for moral choice and the consequences of this choice. The end -to -end idea of the study is that the commander inevitably encounters an existential challenge, for the answer to which should be addressed to philosophy, which allows integrating the contradictions of military affairs. Significant attention is paid to the assessment of the modern media and media stance, the accounting of which is important for making an adequate decision in complex forms of modern war. The monograph is based on the generalization of the experience of naval commanders, whose tasks are associated with autonomous management at sea, which will demand a special culture of thinking. The posed problems and the hypotheses put forward are designed to cause the thoughts of interested experts - philosophers, psychologists, sociologists, teachers - and contribute to the development of practical methods of training, education, and rehabilitation of commanders. The materials of the book can serve as a meaningful basis for the course of the “philosophy of military administration”, and can also be useful to those who are interested in the phenomena of violence and power, combat creativity and sovereign decision, social justice and personal responsibility
