The monograph “Cultural and Historical Pathopsychology” considers the problems of clinical psychology in the context of a cultural-historical and cultural and anthropological approach. The problems of the formation and destruction of subjectivity in various disorders are discussed, a model of the destruction of the subject in different forms from dissociative disorders to identification disorders is proposed. The concepts of “cultural” body and “higher” physiological and bodily functions are introduced and substantiated. It is proposed to interpret the internal picture of the disease as a semiotic phenomenon inscribed in the context of the culture, and the determining ideas about the disease and the patient’s behavior. The possibilities of using clinical and psychological constructs to interpret social phenomena are described.
