The idea that underlies the book challenges the generally accepted stereotypes that make us fight to the victorious line and never give up. The authors argue that the ability to abandon their intentions in time has the same value as perseverance and determination. It is very important to learn to give up with dignity, because often people are literally fixated on perseverance, even if the goal is inaccessible in principle. Sometimes the retreat is the first step necessary to “reboot” and rethink your goals - to understand what you really want from life and head along the new path
