Eigen Blailer is a Swiss psychiatrist, most known to his contribution to the understanding of mental illness and the introduction of the term “schizophrenia” (therefore schizophrenia is sometimes called “Blailer"s disease”) Blailer also introduced the concept of autism.
At one time, Blailer was the only professor of psychiatry who recognized the importance of Freud"s teachings. He actively used psychoanalysis in his clinic. In addition, Blailer developed the idea of the so -called elongotherapy, stating that mental illness should not be treated according to the template, and that often the natural course of the disease leads to a cure.
The most famous student of Blailer, who developed his doctrine of schizophrenia, was the Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Karl Gustav Jung.
"Blailer’s leadership" highly appreciated Karl Yaspers
