The textbook complies with the requirements of the current State Federal Educational Standard and Psychiatry Curriculum. It includes information on the works of prominent psychiatrists and scientists who have not only identified the basic psychopathological symptoms and syndromes but have also distinguished individual nosological forms of psychoses. The section on general psychopathology discusses the evolution of descriptive psychopathology and the formation of the categorical apparatus of the semiotics of mental diseases. In the section on specific psychiatry, the authors consistently demonstrate the importance of clarity in defining mental diseases, analyzing the systematization of psychoses, and considering the dichotomy of nosology-symptomatology and the content of ICD-10. Special attention is given to the diagnosis and treatment of schizophrenia. Borderline mental disorders (neuroses, posttraumatic stress disorder, psychopathies) are also described. The textbook is intended for students in medical institutions of higher education.
