The issues of creating internal combustion engines with non-traditional working cycles and transforming mechanisms for implementing such cycles are considered. The transverse power mechanism NAMI is described, which allows controlling the movement of pistons by changing the degree of compression and working volume. It is shown that controlling strokes and working cycles allows for alternative working processes, such as controlled autoignition of the mixture and partially homogeneous combustion process.
