The monograph is dedicated to the study of the life and work of one of the prominent populist economists, V.P. Vorontsov (1847-1918). In his views, he belonged to the moderate wing of the largest trend in Russian public thought, advocating and defending projects for the peaceful development of the country, and was one of the authors of the popular 'theory of small deeds' in the 1880s-1890s. The work examines the formation of Vorontsov's worldview, his research on the socio-economic development of Russia in the post-reform period, analyzes the situation of the peasant commune, and studies his projects for the future restructuring of the country. In addition, significant attention is paid to the analysis of Vorontsov's role in the evolution of populist doctrine in the second half of the 19th and 20th centuries, the polemics between populists and Marxists in the 1890s. The book is intended for students and specialists in Russian history.
