Dmitry Volodikhin's book "Princess Evdokia of Moscow - the Blooming Apple Tree" will tell children and adults about the life of the wife of the great prince Dmitry Donskoy. The name "Evdokia" means "favor," and this largely determined the fate and earthly path of this remarkable Russian woman. The princess married for love and carried this love throughout her life. Their marriage to Dmitry was blessed by St. Sergius of Radonezh, the former spiritual mentor of the grand princely couple. Evdokia Dmitrievna not only gave her husband 12 children but was also always a faithful companion, support, and comfort to the hero of the Battle of Kulikovo. "You are like a blooming apple tree, and the birds in your foliage sing!" - he repeated to her throughout their marriage. Remaining a widow at the age of 36, the princess remained faithful to her beloved and dedicated her life to serving God and people, for which the Orthodox Church glorified Evdokia (in monasticism - Euphrosyne) among the ranks of the venerable.
