Glaucoma problems have been and remain the most socially significant in modern ophthalmology. The persisting difficulties of timely detection of glaucoma at an early stage, the peculiarities of disease progression considering the progressive characteristics of its course, the colossal number of patients with diverse clinical structures of the disease, and the massive social burden dictate the need for a more focused, logical, systematic, and structured approach to treating such patients. The manual emphasizes the special importance of fundamental and applied research aimed at preserving visual functions in patients with glaucoma. At the present stage, particular significance is gained by the implementation of an effective model for organizing dispensary observation, preparing organizational and methodological support, and rehabilitating patients with this pathology.
