The most famous novel by English writer Jane Austen, sold in a circulation of more than 20 million copies. Austen began working on the novel, which was called 'First Impressions', when she was barely 21 years old. For fourteen years after that, the book was not in demand by publishers, who believed in her literary talent only after the success of 'Sense and Sensibility'.
Since then, the novel has had dozens of adaptations, and the plot about a proud wealthy heir (by modern standards, only the interest from Mr. Darcy's fortune would amount to 18 million dollars annually) and an intelligent charming girl has served as inspiration for many writers.
