Jane Austen conceived her most famous novel 'Pride and Prejudice' when she was only 21 years old. The idea was refined over two years, but the result exceeded all expectations. However, her contemporaries did not see it that way. Critics received the novel coldly - not suspecting that shortly afterwards the book would win over readers and then for 200 years would captivate the imagination of lovers of romantic literature. Today, the story of the misunderstandings and revelations of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy is known to all fans of classics. The writer herself considered her heroine 'the most delightful character ever to appear in print', yet she was far from justifying her mistaken judgments. Jane Austen, with her characteristic insight, slowly tells the story of false assumptions and proud prejudice, only to shatter them in the end thanks to the power of love. Only this overwhelming force is able to reveal the truth about the characters' own feelings and turn the proud into tender lovers.
