Prague, like any self-respecting city, lies on seven hills. On one of them, on the left bank of Vltava (VLTAVA), there is Prague degrees, on the second, across the river, - Vyšehrad. Czech kings lived there, then here, therefore, the inhabitants, challenge to rush after power, eventually built a city on the remaining five hills between the two castles.
Planning as such in Prague is not - neither a radial-ring, as in Moscow, nor rectangular, as in New York. Streets go as they want to cross under the most unthinkable angles. It is impossible not to get lost, but it is part of pleasure. The reason for such a mesh was Vltava, a dividing city into two approximately equal parts. The first houses were built on elevations and islands between the revenues, which left numerous spills. The left bank, though, noticeably above the right and therefore suffered mainly not from flooding, but from fires. Mala country, district under Prague County, in the Middle Ages a couple of times was destroyed by the fire of the dottle. It was not easier to and the Gradians - a small quarter immediately at the gate of the city. The hills of the king citizens did not complain: the left-bank prague in the Middle Ages was built up compact and far from the city was not sprawling. Even the former city of Smukhov, a neighbor of a small country from the south, attached to the capital only in the 20th century, is now considered one of the central regions. Another area on the left bank, but north of the small country, Holesowice, until the XIX century was the royal hunting grounds and is still famous for its parks
