Nikolai Vasilievich Gogol, recognized classic of Russian literature, was also the author of prayers, a religious thinker. He repeatedly visited Optina deserts and wanted to go to the monastery, but did not do it, deciding that he was called up for literary "service". The Christian worldview was clearly manifested in the work of the writer.
