Developing and systematizing his views on postmodern architecture for more than thirty years, influential British architectural theorist Charles Jencks (1939-2019) created a unique text, rich in conceptual, biographical, and illustrative material. You are presented with the translation of the expanded version of the seventh edition of 'The Language of Post-Modern Architecture', where the genesis of the new architectural paradigm is presented in full, from the first experiments of double coding by Jørn Utzon in the Sydney Opera House to the installations of Chinese artist Ai Weiwei. Jencks proves the ubiquity of postmodernism's spread in all regions of the world, talks about his colleagues and friends - Robert Venturi, James Stirling, Aldo Rossi, Ricardo Bofill, Daniel Libeskind, and others, analyzing their views and works. For him, postmodernism is associated not only with the use of computer modeling methods for form but also with considering the reactions of the architecture's recipient, contextuality, diversity, and involvement in design. Such, perhaps, a somewhat expansive interpretation leads to a reevaluation by the reader of the architectural process at the turn of the 20th-21st centuries and invites discussion.
