The artist Grigory Artyukhov is very popular in Knyazhevsk. His paintings are always in high demand, especially those depicting influential individuals from the city's elite. His latest work promised to be a real 'bomb', but remained unfinished - Artyukhov was brutally murdered. Colonel Gurov of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, investigating this crime, is convinced that the artist was killed because of his intention to expose real figures from the criminal world of Knyazhevsk. The detective tries to track down the killer, but encounters fierce resistance from the local ruling elite. However, Gurov wouldn't be Gurov if he didn't come up with a plan to outsmart the arrogant officials...
