The visual embodiments of masculinity and femininity, poverty and injustice, needs and order, care and control in the poster, movie, photographs are both meaningfully and formally connected with the time when images are created. In demand by other people and other generations, images (and people and objects captured on them) receive a new life, their cultural biography continues, they become means of comprehending and constructing the world, an important part of a person’s knowledge of himself in relation to other and social reality. This book was a continuation of the publishing initiative of the Center for Social Policy and Gender Studies in the field of visual analysis. The authors analyze the visual forms that are part of the political discourse of socialism, considering the features of the regimes of view, the angles of visual culture, which, by creating the figurative characteristics of the Soviet social order, modified the repertoirs of possible ways of thinking in accordance with the vectors of politics changes in various periods of Soviet history. The publication is addressed to anthropologists, sociologists, culturalists, historians, all those who are interested in the possibilities and principles of visual research of culture and society
