Before the reader is a book written by an outstanding woman, a revolutionary, a Soviet statesman, the first woman-minister in history and the first woman who became an emergency and plenipotentiary ambassador, Alexandra Mikhailovna Kollontai. The book, written on the eve of the First All -Russian Women"s Congress of 1908, stands out by its fundamentalness in the study of the female question. The three aspects of the female movement are thoroughly studied and described in it - the struggle of women for economic independence, the family issue (without the solution of which it is impossible to actual liberation of a woman) and the struggle of women for political equality. In detail, with an abundance of historical facts and statistical data, the female movement is being investigated in many countries - England, France, Germany, Sweden, Finland, the United States of America, Australia and others. It is shown that the female movement and the struggle of women for political rights in Russia largely ahead of the similar processes occurring abroad. The ways to solve the problems studied are outlined from the point of view of Marxism and taking into account the revolutionary movement of that time.
