The book of David Fishman is dedicated to the history of Shklov - the city in Belarus, which at the end of the 18th century became one of the centers of Eastern European Jewry. Its flowering was short -term - about 40 years, but during this time the Jews of Shklov had to face numerous historical challenges with which Russian Jewry will deal in the 19th century. Shklov was the center of Jewish printing, science, ѓAskals, the struggle of Mitnageds and Hasidov.
