The collective monograph "Russian Germans" is the next volume of the IEA RAS of the Multi -volume series "Peoples and Culture". The Germans (self -name - Deuteche, Deutsche) are the people of the Indo -European language family, one of the largest peoples in Europe, the main population of the Federal Republic of Germany. About 11 million Germans live outside Germany, including about 400 thousand in the Russian Federation. The Germans living in Russia are very diverse: the language (carriers of not only all German dialects, but also other European languages came to Russia), household (from gardeners and vineyards of the Caucasus to livestock breeders and hunters of Siberia), social (from farmers-colonists before Academicians and members of the ruling dynasty), religious (Catholics, Lutherans, Mennonites, Baptists, Orthodox) and cultural. In the culture of Russian Germans, both traditional customs get along, originating from German lands from the time of the resettlement of Germans to Russia (especially in rituals) and the culture of modern Germany. The features of this culture are largely due to continuous movement, constant resettlement, voluntary and forced, several waves of emigration. The culture of Russian Germans is a complex, syncretic culture in which the cultures of Germany and Russia are consuming consistently combined, merge. Tom is richly illustrated.
