Since 2014, the Pitirim Sorokin (Syktyvkar) center, with the support of the Government of the Komi Republic, has issued collected works by Pitirim Sorokin. This volume is a stereotypical publication of a book issued by the Center "Heritage". The present volume of collected works of the world -famous sociologist P. Sorokin (1889-1968) includes his classical work “Modern Sociological Theories”, written and published in the USA in 1928, when the author worked at the University of Minnesota. For several decades, the book served as a textbook on the history of sociology for students and graduate students of American colleges and universities. This publication is the first translation of this classical work into Russian. The publication is addressed to everyone who is interested in the history of sociology and the work of P. Sorokin
