In the book Associate Professor of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosova L.P. Muromtseva and leading researcher of the Institute of Russian History of the Russian Academy of Sciences V.B. Perkhavko is presented against a wide historical background of the past of our Fatherland in close connection not only with statehood and state policy, but also with society. The monograph, covering a significant period from the Moscow kingdom to the Great Victory, is written in line with historical anthropology. It is based on the generalization of a significant array of written, iconographic, folklore and material sources. The authors recreated the history of folk militias in Russia, who played an important role in the defense of the Fatherland. Particular attention was paid to the period of military revolutionary storms of 1917-1922, constituent assemblies, as well as the Russian post-government emigration. The materials of the book can be widely used in military-patriotic and teaching work, when creating textbooks and textbooks, museum expositions
