This book, published in the year of the centenary of the Irish Republican Army, is dedicated to the struggle of the Irish people for their freedom and independence in the twentieth century. It shows the complex character of the Irish node of religious, social, economic and national contradictions. Such important historical events as the struggle for Gomrul, the legendary Easter uprising of 1916, the war for the independence of 1919–1921 are highlighted in detail. And the subsequent civil war, and especially the civil confrontation in Northern Ireland, which began in 1969 and lost intensity only in the 90s. With German pedantry, the work provides many accurate numbers and facts designed to illuminate the real state of affairs. Particular attention is paid to the history of nationalist organizations: the Irish Republican Brotherhood, the Shinn Feyn party and, of course, the famous Irish Republican Army (including its factions: “official”, “temporary” and “genuine”) The specificity of Irish nationalism is shown, combining the “left” economic program with hard requirements of upholding the identity of national culture and preserving the native Gaelian language
