This book contains basic information about the eight of the largest civilizations of the ancient East. The essays included in it are written by leading domestic orientalists. Mesopotamia and Small Asia. Iran and Transcaucasia, India and Central Asia, China and Japan ... - their achievements in material and spiritual culture are extremely important. Each of these civilizations is unique, however, with all the differences, they are united not only by formal affiliation to the east, but also by the time and space of the communication, which were borrowed and the influences spread. These were cruel worlds based on the exploitation of slave labor, speaking the language of rituals and sacrificly sacrificing people to their gods, despising weakness and not recognizing the rights of the individual, but at the same time beautiful in their own way, because they were the childhood of mankind. For us, these worlds are full of riddles, which may never be solved to the end. But the more closely we peer into them, the more we learn about ourselves
