The motive for writing this book was the 50-year experience of the elder and 30 years of experience of younger authors, their permanent, annual trips, accommodation at Oyat and Southern Veps. I wanted to describe the life of wonderful representatives of this people, the features of Veps medicine and plant treatment. The book is dedicated to the disappearing small nationality - Vepses living in the Leningrad, Vologda regions, in Karelia and are direct descendants of the ancient chronicle weight (Chudi) All at least two millennia ago inhabited the enormous spaces of Eastern Europe, participated in the calling of the Varangians to reign, in the struggle with the Swedes, in the ice battle, and Vepsa in the Great Patriotic War. All and Vepses assimilated by the colonization flows of Novgorodians and immigrants from the Rostovo-Suzdal lands made a huge contribution to our spiritual and material culture, customs, language, genetics. Experts say that 80% Finno-Ugric blood flow in the veins of the Great Russians. We attract historical, linguistic, ethnographic, archaeological, art history materials (with links!)
The threats are not only all and veps, but also the Finns, Karelians, Esta, Mordovians, Sami (Lopari), Hungarians, Zyryans, disappeared measured, Meshchera, Murom, almost disappeared, Izhora, etc. D. Some of the listed peoples, especially those who came into contact with all, experienced its influence, are paid to the pages of the book. The threats were primary Russian lands from Moscow from Moscow to the Outskirts, in fact, by our ancestors.
We describe the most striking moments of annual communication with the inhabitants of Ladva, one of the oldest villages on Oyati (ancient St. Petersburg, and possibly Moscow), where we have a curve of Veps hut, Corbas, Vinnitsa, Corbenich, Haragenich, Ust-capsi, shugozer, capshozer, villages of the Vologda, Arkhangelsk regions. Under the heading "Personals, or Ladvinsky Aborigines" given portrait and creative sketches of some veps. When describing in the recent past, healers, healers, and sorcerers extremely popular among the Veps are again given specific cases, stories, legends, and superstitions of Vepsov. Most of the book is not devoted to the "not all the led properties of medicinal plants of Veps land." For the first time, on the basis of the collection of materials, the Vepsi provides information about the use of dozens of plants in Veps traditional medicine. This material is served professionally and absolutely original.
In the "riddles of Veps Toponymy", the names of lakes, rivers, streams, villages, as well as the Russian toponyms and hydronyms are shown (translated), the meaning of which is incomprehensible to us today (Koltushi, Shushara, Chargia, Suoyarvi, Kem, Kama , Ladoga, Osh, Kokshenga, Koksharka, Vinnitsa, Yaloshma, etc)
Descriptions of the "features of Veps national fishing and hunting", "third hunting" (collecting mushrooms), the rainy summer of 2000 and 2017 claims, like other fragments of the book, at least some artistry and appeal to a sense of humor. Appeals to Russian poetry, reflecting our relationship with the Finno-Ugric peoples, are numerous. The chapter "Applied Folk Art of Ancient Libra and Vepsa" is given, like the whole book, in historical retrospective.
