The academic edition of the main work of Yuri Krizhanich, an outstanding Catholic thinker and preacher of Slavic unity in the 17th century, combines the merits of previous publications, carefully used in the transmission and commentary of the text, with a deeper exploration of the meaning system of his treatise 'Politics' and the entire system of works, often escaping the attention of scholars and a wide circle of readers. For the first time, we have the opportunity to objectively, without ideological templates, look at the formation of Krizhanich's Pan-Slavic concept, placing Russia at the center of the Slavic cultural and political world, and at the attitude of Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich's government towards him, on the one hand, sending a missionary of the Papal Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith to Tobolsk, and on the other hand, providing him with rich financial compensation for his intellectual work.
