The poetry of the German literary cabaret is a phenomenon, more than a hundred years actively developing in German-speaking countries and nevertheless, almost an unknown to the Russian reader. "Imported" from France purely entertaining genres of cabaret at the turn of 19-20 centuries. Found in Germany fertile soil and soon filled with relevant social and political content, the anti-war, anti-nationalistic accusatory pathos and satirical sharpness were found. Literary Cabaret was perhaps the only publicly available and widespread form of social satire in Germany of the period of the Weimar Republic.
