Poetry of the Spanish Baroque is one of the brightest and most significant phenomena of world literature of the XVII century. In Russia, there are never once poetic anthologies dedicated to Baroque Spain, therefore these collections are truly unique for the Russian reader.
The main part of the book is the poetic creativity of the two geniuses of the XVII century - Louis de Gongor and Francisco de Cuevedo. In addition, the book presents the poetry of their followers and students: Count de Williamediana, Louis Carrillo de Sotomairor, Pedro Soto de Rohas, Antonio Enriches Gomez and others. The collection is complemented by fragments from the plays of two great Spanish playwrights - Tirsco de Molina and Pedro Calderon de la Barka, as well as prosaic materials, which reflects the literary struggle and controversy of the Spanish poets of the XVII century.
A number of translations are published for the first time.
Compiled by V.N. Andreev, A.Yu. Mirolyubov
