In 2011, the textbook "Theory of Literary Genres" (V.I. Tyupa, N.D. Tamarchenko, D.M. Magomedova, M.N. Darwin) was created, providing a systematic characterization of the most important epic, lyrical, and dramatic genres. However, a number of genre models (meta-novel, montage novel, genres of mass literature, hybrid prose-lyrical genres, genres of mass literature, etc.) remained outside the scope of researchers. The task of this work is to partially fill this gap. This monograph consists of three sections. The first section is dedicated to the analysis of epic genres in both "serious" and mass literature. The second section examines the processes of hybridization and prose-ization of lyrical genres based on Russian poetry from the 19th to the early 20th century. The third section demonstrates genre transformations of stable motifs and plots (the ball chronotope, the myth of Tannhäuser, etc.) in Russian literature of the Modern era. For specialists in literary theory and history, culture, as well as for students and postgraduates.
