Oscar Wilde (1854-1900) is known in Russia primarily as the author of brilliant dramatic works: the novel "Portrait of Dorian Gray", fairy tales, parables and numerous aphorisms. Meanwhile, his work began with poetry. In 1878, he still won the prestigious prize of the University of Oxford for the poem of Rovenna - and ended with the famous "Ballad of the Reding prison", written after liberation from the imprisonment.
