In the early days of October 1941, there was a threat of the Germans advancing towards Moscow on the Maloyaroslavets direction. On October 5th, the cadets from the infantry and artillery schools in Podolsk were called to arms. They were to resist the Hitlerites at all costs and delay their advance until our reserves arrived. The Podolsk cadets exceeded the task set by the supreme command: they held the line not for five to seven days as required, but for almost two weeks. This story is about the courage, bravery, and self-sacrifice of these 17-19 year old heroes.
