The course of lectures is devoted to the initial elements of herbal medicine, which is reflected in the name. The material is presented in six lectures. The first of them discusses the story, the time of the beginning of treatment with plants, the place of herbal medicine in the system of medical knowledge, the definition of it as a basic discipline of traditional medical. The differences in folk and traditional medical, as well as relatively young discipline - homeopathy are analyzed. The second lecture provides specific examples of creating the vast majority of groups of medicines by imitating the structure or directly from plant metabolites. Herbal therapy is presented as a basis for the emergence and development of modern pharmacology. The third, fourth and fifth lectures contain a detailed analysis of the properties of plants used for inflammatory and infectious diseases, since inflammation is an element of the majority pathogenesis, if not all, diseases. Finally, in the sixth lecture on representative samples, a high efficiency of phytotherapy was demonstrated in the treatment of patients with multiple sclerosis, cerebrovascular disease, coronary heart disease, complications of hypertension, non -specific ulcerative colitis, pulmonary tuberculosis
