The physiological support of the training process of highly qualified athletes is designed to identify body systems that limit and limit the athlete’s performance, to choose physiological tests that correctly assess the effect of training loads on functional indicators, and on this basis make timely changes to the training process. In this leadership, an attempt was made, based on modern literary data and their own studies, to evaluate the role of various physiological factors affecting the aerobic performance of a highly qualified skier and biathlonist, to consider testing some functional indicators and their training. Based on the study of the dynamics of the functional indicators of highly qualified athletes and the data of modern literature, proposals are formulated on the strategy for selecting training loads in the macrocycle
